RE: Confirmation of Joseph K. Kamelamela as the Corporation Counsel, January 4,2017
It's my pleasure to recommend Joe Kamelamela for Department Head for Corporation Counsel.
I have known Joe for many years through AYSO. He started volunteering as a coach and goal keeper trainer in
the 1990's and has continued to serve the Hilo AYSO community throughout the years. Joe continued
volunteering to help children who did not have a coach even when his children became adults and no longer
played. Joe offered classes to train goalkeepers on his own time. This volunteer work requires a multitude of
qualities in dealing with various levels of skill levels with children and various demands from parents.
I work for Life Care Center of Hilo and the Alzheimer's Association and I have had many conversations with Joe
about other topics and he has always shown the ability to hear the complex issues without judgement.
I believe he has all the qualities and experience to be an excellent Department Head. I highly endorse Joe
Kamelamela for department Head of the Corporate Counsel.
