Re: Confirmation of Joseph Kamelamela as Corporation Counsel
I wholeheartedly support the confirmation of Joseph Kamelamela as Corporation
Counsel.
I have known Mr. Kamelamela in a professional capacity since February 2004 when I
started as the Equal Opportunity Officer in the Department of Human Resources.
Mr. Kamelamela and I worked closely together on two of the County's Transition Plans
to bring the County into compliance with Title II Regulations of the Americans with
Disabilities Act. Mr. Kamelamela and I attended regular conferences with the Judge,
the Plaintiffs' attorneys, and the Court Monitor. Mr. Kamelamela managed a
sometimes adversarial process with grace and integrity.
I often consulted Mr. Kamelamela when I encountered difficult situations involving the
needs of consumers and the operations of departments. I relied upon
Mr. Kamelamela's knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, and his understanding
of County operations to guide me.
Mr. Kamelamela is a dedicated and hard worker. He knows and respects the law,
while keeping the best interests of the County at heart. I know Mr. Kamelamela as a
professional who chooses to do the right thing over the easiest.
