Dear Chair Kanuha,
I am writing to voice my strong personal support for Joseph Kamelamela for the
position of County Corporation Counsel. I am a 20-year resident of Hawaii Island
and owned a business at NELHA until 2012. I know Joe because we are both
Board Members of the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial a 501c3 non-profit
working to better lives of local veterans. Joe and I sit on the Procurement
Committee for HIVM where we recently oversaw significant contract work on
HIVM's lot on Kawili Street (mauka of 7-11). In our deliberations comparing
bids for work, Joe was always professional and kept us informed of exactly what
were State Procurement rules pertaining to our expending this grant. In all of that,
Joe was very pleasant and always professional. I find him to be a person of
utmost integrity. I am confident he will make an excellent Corporation Counsel.
I encourage you to confirm Joseph Kamelamela's appointment.
