MSY OF M, <br />W H> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII '- STATE OF HAWAII <br />,tf OF•M'Y <br />RESOLUTION NO. 52 17 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br />UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS COMMUNITY OUTREACH <br />INITIATIVE. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, HIUW is committed to advancing the common good of all by focusing on <br />community transformation in the areas of education, income, and health by collaborating with <br />many community partners to create healthy communities; and <br />WHEREAS, through its community outreach initiative, HIUW promotes awareness of <br />the 54 health and human service programs being offered through its partner agencies and urges <br />the community to donate to the many programs that provide assistance to over 75% of Hawaii <br />Island families and individuals each year; and <br />WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with expenses relating to its community <br />outreach initiative, which includes website improvements and the purchase of advertising <br />material, such as banners, shirts, hats, stickers, and pens aimed to encourage donations to the <br />many service programs offered through its community partners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Island United Way to assist with expenses relating <br />to its community outreach initiative. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
