RESOLUTION NO. "� 1-
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR THE PURCHASE OF MATERIAL AND SUPPLIES FOR ITS
COMMUNITY OUTREACH INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that invests in Hawai`i Island to build stronger and healthier communities; and
WHEREAS, HIUW partners with 38 agencies and 48 community programs by
supporting local community organization focusing on health and wellness efforts related to
substance use and abuse prevention; and
WHEREAS, HIUW and partners reached over 75% of Hawai`i Island as a result of
community outreach initiative; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to help cover expenses for the purchase of
materials and supplies for its community outreach initiative; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control's goals are to support programs and
organizations that promote a healthy and safe environment to benefit those in the community;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-19(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses for
materials and supplies for its community outreach initiative;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
