RESOLUTION NO. 58 1'
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE NOMINATION OF KAUAI COUNTY COUNCIL
MEMBER ARRYL KANESHIRO TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i State Association of Counties (HSAC) is comprised of the
county councils of the State of Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, the county councils of the State of Hawai`i are also members of the
National Association of Counties (NACo), an organization comprised of about 3,000 counties
from across the United States; and
WHEREAS,NACo is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of elected officials of
member-counties; and
WHEREAS, Section 5A of the HSAC Bylaws requires nominees of the NACo Board of
Directors to be nominated by the HSAC Executive Committee and member county councils of
HSAC, and then forwarded to the NACo President and Board of Directors for consideration in
accordance with Article VI of the NACo bylaws; and
WHEREAS, on December 22, 2016, HSAC nominated Kaua`i County Council Member
Arryl Kaneshiro to the NACo Board of Directors for the term ending June 30, 2017; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Kaua`i County Council Member Arryl Kaneshiro is hereby approved to serve as a Director on
the National Association of Counties Board of Directors; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the President and Secretary of the Hawai`i State Association of Counties.
