RESOLUTION NO. 72 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET,
INC., TO ASSIST THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S
SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i Department of Health's Supplemental Nutritional
Assistance Program (SNAP) has offered to bring the Double Bucks program to Maku`u Market;
and
WHEREAS, the Double Bucks program makes the purchase of fresh local vegetable and
fruit crops affordable for our most food insecure residents; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission
is to eradicate the root of hunger; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., strongly supports the Double Bucks program that
helps residents purchase fresh local fruits and vegetables; and
WHEREAS, this funding transfer is in alignment with the Department of Research and
Development's Agriculture Program objective of supporting local, national, and international
promotion of locally produced agricultural products; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc., to assist with SNAP's
Double Bucks program at Maku`u Market.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance.with the
terms of this resolution.
