HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PEDLC 011 06/17/1969 1969-1972 • • • PLANNING, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORT NO 11 Councilmen County of Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of June 17, 1969: COMMUNICATIONS to. 23$: Planning Director Re: Amendment to the County General Plan in Waikoloa and Anaehoomalu, South Kohala, Hawaii - Requests Council's approval of the amendments to the General Plan with consideration given, as requested by the Planning Commission, to those provisions which the developers questioned : Refer to the Committee of the Whole. /No. 272: Emmett Cahill and Fumi Ige, Co-Chairmen, Hawaii Table Grape Boycott Committee Hopes that the Hawaii Council will consider adopting a resolution supporting the consumer boycott of California table grapes and encouraging the people of Hawaii to join this effort to help restore human dignity and to bring about social justice for California farm workers : Table the communication. No. 2$l: Jack Konno, Hawaii Division Vice President, UPW Informs that the UPW, Hawaii Division Executive Board, went on record to support the request of the Hawaii Table Grape Boycott Committee 's request for the adoption of a resolution encouraging the citizens of Hawaii County to refrain from buying California grapes. Requests the Council to urge and recommend to all organizations on our island to fully support the boycott of California grapes: Table the communication. ADOPTED: June 19, 1969 Report No. �� _....�.. S . Department of Commerce: Accept the report . /No . 336: Council Chairman Transmits for the Council's information a copy of a letter to the Mayor from Mr. Wm. B. Ross, Acting Federal Insurance Administrator, Department of Housing and Urban Development, regarding flood insurance coverage under the National Flood Insurance Program: Received and file; information only. No . 337: Walter E. Batchelder, M.D. , District Health Officer, Department. of Health Informs that present health examinations are adequate for food handlers: Received and file; information only. RESOLUTION No . 96 : A Resolution Requesting the Governor to Appoint A Committee to Study and Report on Accident and Health Insurance Premium Rates: Recommends the adoption of the resolution with the following amendment : Eliminate "by the Hawaii Medical Services - 4 411 III PEDLC Rep. 11 - 3 - June 17, 1969 Association" in paragraph 1 to read as follows : WHEREAS, monthly premium rates charged for accident and health plans have risen sharply in the last few years; and. . . . .
