The following are the recommendations of the Planning,
Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were
considered at its meeting of June 30, 1969:
• COMMUNICATIONS
�No . 329: F. E. Bakutis, Rear Admiral, U. S. Navy, Commandant,
Fourteenth Naval District
Re: Resolution No . 57 requesting the Dept . of
Defense that the area presently used for bombing
be relocated as requested by the residents of
Milolii Village
Informs of the Navy's position in this matter and
assures the Council that the Navy will continue
their efforts to reduce as much as possible any
inconvenience to the residents of Milolii Village :

�zm Re : Kailua Elementary School Site, EO No . 277
Transmits to the Council for information a copy of
a letter from Mr. Herbert S. Watanabe to Mr. Ralph
. H . Kiyosaki, Superintendent, DOE, informing that
the Hawaii District DOE requests and recommends
that the Kailua site .be retained under the
Department of Education:

Re: Street Name for "Okino Subdivision", Kaumana,

Recommends the adoption of the resolution to legally
name the street "Malama Place, " which means light,

Re: Neighborhood Development Program for Year 1969-70
Transmits for the .Council's consideration and action
a proposed Neighborhood Development Program for the
City of Hilo for the year 1969-70. A form of
resolution to be adopted by the Council on acceptance
and an application for Federal financial assistance
are also submitted:

Neighborhood Development
Program for Year 1969-70
and the adoption of the
resolution.
dcm , . No . 364: Director, Department of Research and Development
Informs that his department has received official
approval for an Economic Administration Grant of
$24,132. This amount will adequately cover the
S/W of the two research analysts and the secretary
involved in the program. The $19, 596 reflected as
S/W for these three positions in the 1969-70
budget would, therefore, not have to be expended:
