The following are the recommendations of the Planning,
Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were
considered at its meeting of August 14, 1969:
COMMUN ICAT IONS
�No . 102.3: Director, Department of Research and Development
Re : C-102 (Housing) Statistical Survey to Determine
County' s Comprehensive and Long Term Housing Needs
Submits a status report on the four (4) propositions
made by the Council' s PEDLC Committee as per C-102:
1 . Availability of Federal Funds
None, but will utilize the Federally-
funded 701 Planning for necessary
data.
2. Cost of Project
Over $50,000
3. Study should also recommend solutions
Administration planning to work on experimental
housing project as cited in the Neighborhood
Workable Program Report.
4. Use of Departmental Funds for study
Have since expended $5,000.
Accept and file.

Informs that the administration is in full accord
with HRA' s Neighborhood Development Program for
1969-70 and recommends the Council ' s approval of
the program:

Recommends that the Council accept the decisions
of the two panel of judges and approve the selection
of the winning entry:

Recommends approval of the modified winning entry
as the new County Seal:

and recommends that the County
retain its present seal.

Forward to the Council for its consideration and
adoption the request by Mr. William J. Reigel for
rezoning of land in Kapoho , Halekamahina, Puua,
Puna, Hawaii from Agricultural (A-3a) to Agricultural
(A-1a) . The Planning Commission recommends approval:

Re: Hawaiian Paradise Park
Encloses a letter received from Mr. Clifford St. Croix
which in turn encloses data that Mr. St. Croix requested
from the Real Estate Commission of California of
Hawaiian Paradise Park and the final Subdivision
Public Reports of Incline Village, Shelter Cove and
Lake of the Pines Subdivisions:

Re: Status Report - Western Airlines Stewardess College
Submits the above report on what has transpired thus
far in Western Airlines proposed stewardess college.
Info.vms that site selection will be reactivated and
that Western Airlines will be in touch with his
department some time in early August:

Re: A County Ordinance to Designate School Lands
PEDLC Rep. 14 - 3 - Aug. 14, 1969
No . 432: Request that the County of Hawaii enact a County
(Cont.) Ordinance to set aside land areas in new or developing
subdivisions for school sites. Recommends also that
the approval of, the Superintendent of Education be
required prior to granting of any application by the
Planning Commission:

to draw up an ordinance requiring
that parks, playground sites, and
school sites be dedicated to the
County on all developments.
