The following are the recommendations of the Planning,
Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were
considered at its meeting of April 2, 1970:

Submits the attached reply of the Big Island Housing
Foundation to 1"!r. Sunao Kido relative to his inquiry
into the Foundation' s intentions in their application
for 7.15 acres of State land behind the Lokahi Project:

Re: Resolution No. 209 - New York World Trade Center
Acknowledges. receipt of the resolution and expresses
his views on the subject matter:

States their objection to any kind of tourist tax.
Informs that recent development indicates that tourism
is on the down trend and further legislation may worsen
the situation. Also complains about Kona not getting
a fair share of its tax dollar returns:

MOT Aie_c_ M-128: Council meeting of March 25, 1970 - it was moved,
seconded and carried that the subject of a joint-use
helicopter be referred to the PEDLC:

Recommends that this be
referred to the administra-
tion for study by the various
departments into all aspects
of obtaining a helicopter and
refer their findings to the
Finance Committee with a copy
to the Planning, Economic
Development and Legislative
Committee for consideration in
this coming fiscal year' s budget.
