The following are the recommendations of the Planning, .
Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were
considered at its meeting of May 4, 1970:

Kinoole Streets, Hilo, Hawaii
Submits a copy of a letter from Mr. James J. Detor,
Dept. of Land & Natural Resources, informing the
Big Island Housing Foundation of their approval to
lease the above site:
635.9: Sunao Kido , Chail.man & Member, Board of Land &
Natural Resources
Re: Conditional Commitment - Direct Lease of
Government Land at Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii
Copy of a letter to the Governor from Mr. Kido
Informing him of the Board' s approval to commit
the 1.026-acre site to the Big Island Housing
Foundation on a direct lease basis subject to the
conditions listed. Also requests acknowledgment
of concurrence:

Concurs with Councilman Greenwell' s recommendation
that the name of a district be restricted to the
district concerned:

Submits a report of his investigation into the subject
matter.
Of the 75 stalls checked, 10 were occupied by U-Drives.
However, it could not be determined how many of these
(10) were being rented at that time:

MOTION
M-137: Council meeting of April 8, 1970
It was moved, seconded and carried that with regard
to Section 3-15 of the County Charter, the PEDLC
consider and make recommendations on the idea of
hiring an outside agency to codify the County
ordinances and that the Corporation Counsel submit
his suggestions and names of three agencies to
Committee for consideration:

Re: Hiring of Agency for Codification of County

Suggests the services of NIL"IZO, National Tnstitute
of Municipal Law Officers, as an agency worthy of
investigation to do the subject codification:
Direct the Corporation Counsel
to do the codification of the
County ordinances.
RECOMMENDATIONS
6(--- No. 1: Recommends that the Research and Development Department
and the Planning Department be directed by this committee
to give their report on the status of industrial and

No. 2: Recommends that the Council reconsider its motion on the
axis deer issue and recommends support of resolutions

recommendation of its Planning, Economic Development and
Legislative Committee;
