HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PEDLC 030 05/14/1970 1969-1972 PLANNING, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORT NO 3° ' Councilmen - County of Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of May 14, 1970: COMMUN ICAT IONS No. 635.10: Sunao Kido , Chairman & Member, Board of Land & Natural Resources Re: Conditional Commitment - Direct Lease of Government Land at Waiakea, South Hilo , Hawaii for Housing Project Copy of a letter to Mrs. Helene Hale from Mr. Kido informing that the Governor has concurred with their approval to commit the site at the corner of Hualalai and Kinoole Streets, Hilo , to the Big Island Housing Foundation for low and moderate income housing development: Received and file. "No. 796.1: William S. Richardson, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Hawaii Thanks the Council for its interest in the judicial problems of West Hawaii. Informs that when Judge Kushi' s term expires in January 1972, an evaluation will be made in keeping with their policy to furnish the best judicial service in every area of the State: Received and file. 6,7,,ni • No. 832: Mayor Re: M-109 - Railroad Rights-of-Way Informs that nearly all of the railroad right-of-ways not used for highways were sold to adjacent property owners; therefore it does not appear feasible to acquire them for a future mass transit system. Suggests widening of the present highway rights-of-way as a probable alternative solution: Received and file and that the proposed transportation routes be ADOPTED: May 20, 1970 considered for inclusion in the general plan. Veriato , Chairman, Planning Commission Re: Street Name for Wah Kan Chock Subdivision, Ponahawai, South Hilo , Hawaii (TMK: 2-3-20:4) Recommends adoption of Resolution No. 239 to legally name the street "Mohala Place" which means an opening or unfolded: Recommends adoption of Resolution No . 239. No . 853: Finance Director Submits for approval the "Rules and Regulations Providing Value Engineering Incentive in Public Works Contracts, " which was adopted on April 14, 1970 by the Finance Director after notice and public hearing in accordance with law. The Mayor has approved the rules: Recommends approval. e m(--'1, • No . 854: Planning Director Transmits for adoption a proposed amendment to Bill No . 572 to amend Section 28 of Ordinance No. 63 (Zoning Ordinance) as follows: "3) South Hilo Safety Zones shall be limited to a building height of seven (7) stories or-ninety (90) feet, whichever is less." Transmits additional information relative to the axis deer: Accept and file, and thank Mr. Wing Chang for supplying this information. RECOMMENDATION Aa. c-.
