Believes the present ordinance to be weak and almost unenforceable. Suggests that the new ordinance restrict the sale of fireworks to only those possessing officialpermits: 709.1: Albert Jeremiah, Jr. , Deputy Corporation Counsel Re: Fireworks Ordinance As per request , transmits a draft of a proposed fire- works ordinance (Bill No. 707) to prohibit all use of fireworks except by permit: 709.2: Chief of Police Ernest J. Fergerstrom Re: 0-709 & 709.1 - Fireworks Ordinance Submits his comments on Bill No. 707: 1. The fact that 14 persons were injured by fireworks during the past 12 months is felt to be adequate justification for passage of Bill No . 707. 2. Recommends that Sec. 6 be amended to require that all operators of fireworks displays have their permits on their person to avoid unnecessary delay when checked by a police officer. Also recommends that the bond requirements of Sec. 6 be set at a minimum of $5,000, as $500 may not be sufficient to cover expenses arising out of personal injury or fire damage cases: ku 709.3: Corporation Counsel' s Office • Submits amended fireworks ordinance as requested: Recommends that Bill No . 707 pass on first reading and that a public hearing be heldeon July 1, 1970 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Councilroom. Poage, House Committee on Agriculture, opposing Section 23(b)(2) of the Egg Products Inspection Act, S. 2116 and Mr. Poage ' s reply: 858.4: U. S. Representative Patsy T. Mink Re: Resolution No. 241 Attaches the following two letters regarding the concerns expressed on S. 2116, the Egg Products Inspection Act: 1) Her letter to Rep. Frank A. Stubblefield, Chairman, Subcommittee on Dairy and Poultry, 2) Rep. Stubblefield' s reply: 858.5: Allen J.
