( Information) No . 1085.1: UNF IN ISHE;D BUSINESS Legislative Auditor submits the attached report with recommendations on the actions to take on the deferred communications: Approve of the report and recommendations. (Opposed: Mr. Edwards and Mr. Yamada) i:�e� Cc3n m No . 116.5: COURT CASE OF THF, PANAEWA FARMERS Managing Director submits information as requested by Mr. Kwai Wah Lee, President of the Keaukaha- Panaewa Community Association. Item VII. The Court Case of the Panaewa Farmers The position of the Association is that they "support the farmers of Panaewa under the leadership of Randy Ahuna in their efforts against the Hawaii Homes Commission policies on the farm lands and support the farmers in their court case in the near future. No. 9q1 Date: JAN 1 3 1971.. 411 PEDLC-46 - 2 - January 7, 1971 No . 1165: the Council is in complete (Con't.) agreement with their concern and pledges its support on any reasonable action to eliminate the foul odor and request the administra- tion for a recommendation as soon as possible. No . 1174: EQUIPMENT FOR CONVENTION SALES PROGRAM Douglas F. Jenkins, President, Pacific Area Communica- tions, Inc. , informs of the convention sales program of the Hawaii Visitors Bureau using short films on the convention and business meeting facilities to sell Hawaii as a meeting center. Plans call for an overall cartridge on Hawaii and also on each of the neighbor islands and asks if Hawaii County would be interested in pursuing this convention sales program with a cartridge for the complete package: 1174.1: Douglas F. Jenkins informs that a complete proposal delineating budget requirements and other details for this program will be sent shortly and hopes that this matter will be kept in abeyance until this more formal proposal is received so that the Council will have all necessary details for study and recommendation: Accept and file. (Further infol•uiation will be forth- coming from Mr. Jenkins.) 4 (161-7,p4 .No . 1179: RECOMMENDED LEGISLATION Mayor submits drafts of the following bills which have been prepared by the Corporation Counsel with the cooperation of the Police Department for County of Hawaii recommendation to the State Legislature: 1) Bill for an act relating to extortionate credit transactions. 2) Bill for an act relating to immunity of witnesses. Approve and refer this to the Legislative Committee as a lobbying item. No . 1184: HOTEL HALT ON BIG ISLE Mr. & Mrs. Landon T. Gray inform that they agree with the attached article to halt hotel construction on the Big Island: Receive and file. (Information) • 410 PEDLC-46 - 3 - January 7, 1971 5L No . 1200: EXPANSION OF CEMETERY UNDER ORDINANCE NO. 66 Vice Chairman, Planning Commission, recommends adoption of the attached Resolution No . 307, approving the application of Hawaii Memorial Gardens, Inc. , for expansion of cemetery in Kaieie Homesteads, Papaikou, South Hilo (TMK: 2-7-06:17) : Approve and recommend adoption of Resolution No . 307. No . 1202: SITE SELECTION FOR FUTURE HEADQUARTERS OF THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE C OMM ISS ION Richard S. Miyashiro , Secretary, of the Club 100 Hawaii Chapter submits comments on the above subject : Reassure Club 100 that the Council will fulfill its origi- nal committment for future expansion of the Veterans Cemetery .
