HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PEDLC 055 05/27/1971 1969-1972 11111 PLANNING, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORT NO 55 Councilmen County of Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Economic Development and Legislative Committee which were considered at its meeting of May 27, 1971: Comm. 1418: LOBBY REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS PEDLC Chairman submits the lobby report of the County and recommendations regarding full-time lobbyist and a pre-session conference with administration and legislators: Receive and file with the understanding that the Committee will consider some of thesesuggestions before the next session of the Legislature. Comm.- 1424: COUNTY'S LOBBYING PROCEDURES Councilman Souza offers comments to improve the County' s lobbying procedures: Y.iDLC Chaiyw.an to appoint a special lobbying committee with the Legislative Auditor serving as an ex-officio member for the purpose of formulating a program with priorities so that the Council can do a more effective lobbying job. Act 108 Projects, recommends Council approval to construct an addition (20 'x 26 ' unit) to the Model 400 (smaller unit of the two experimental houses) : C- 1430.1: Roy K. Nakamoto for Mrs. Alice B. Greenwell requests Council approval to construct an addition to the Model 400 home : Recommends approval to allow Challenge, Inc. , •to construct an addition to their Model 400 home. omm. 1445: WELFARE TASK FORCE 61-230/PEDLC-51) Bruce McCall for Mayor informs that the matter of a "Welfare Task Force" was discussed with Mr. Myron Thompson, Director of the State Department of Social Services and it is planned to operate as a part of a Joint Task Force with the State: Receive and file. RECOMMENDATION No . 1: HISTORICAL SITES - ZONING- AMENDMENT Request the-Planning Director to submit a proposed draft amending the zoning ordinance designed to preserve historical sites to the PEDLC for consideration.
