The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Economic
Development and Legislative Committee which were considered at its
meeting of August 3, 1972 :
COMM. 1695.5 : NEW YORK WORLD TRADE CENTER - REPORT NO. 9
From Andrew Gerakas , Dept. of Planning and Economic
Development, dated June 29, 1972, transmitting the
monthly report of the State-County New York World
Trade Center representative for the month of May, 1972.
Receive and file.
COMM. 1805 : PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE
From Councilman Greenwell dated January 20, 1972,
submitting for consideration an amendment to Section 9(F)
of Ordinance No. 63.

,- C- 1805.1 : From Planning Director dated July 19, 1972, submitting
comments on the proposed amendment to the Zoning
Ordinance. It is felt that the proposed amendment
would undermine the variance provisions of the Zoning
Ordinance and therefore, should be denied.
Accept the recommendation of
the Planning Director and send
a copy of the Director's letter
to Mr. Frank Zuzak.

COMM. 2049 : MOSQUITO CONTROL
From Governor John A. Burns dated July 5, 1972,
acknowledging receipt of Resolution 533 which requests
the resumption of fogging to combat the mosquito problem
in Hilo. Submits comments and proposed course of action
from the Director of Health.

Island Chapter, dated July 24, 1972, informing that
they went on record as opposing Resolution 533 and
lists the reasons for taking this stand. Requests
that there be no resumption of fogging for mosquito
control and instead concentrate on the following
suggestions :
(a) hiring more men to inspect town premise more
frequently and to assist in educating the public;
(b) using more biologic controls through the increased
use of mosquito predators, parasites, etc.
(c) having more anti-litter campaigns and periodic
cleaning of stream beds, drains, vacant lots, etc.

From Planning Commission dated July 21, 1972, trans-
mitting for adoption Bill 907 to change the district
classification of approximately 1.424 acres of land
situated in Keauhou 1st, North Kona, from an agricultural
(A-la) zoneddistrict to a residential-agricultural
(RA-.5a) zoned district.
Approve and recommend passage
of Bill 907 on first reading.

land situated in Keauhou 2nd, North Kona, from an
Unplanned (U) zoned district to a single-family
residential (RS-15 ) zoned district.
Approve and recommend passage
of Bill 908 on first reading.

classification as follows : for a 5.336 acre area
from a village commercial (CV-10) to a multiple-family
residential (RM-3.0) zoned district and for a 6.43 acre
area from a multiple-family residential (RM-3.0) to
a village commercial (CV-10) zoned district, located
in Waikoloa Village Unit I-A, Waikoloa, South Kohala.
Approve and recommend passage
