The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Economic
Development and Legislative Committee which were considered at its
meeting of October 4, 1972:
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 999.8: MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM
Earl dated September 24,
From Mary W. a p 1972,
requesting that the Council use any available
funds to implement the Voorhees ' plan for a
mass transit system but further requests that
the plan not be funded by a fuel tax, as suggested,
but by general appropriation in the future, as
specifically recommended by the administration
on June 13th.
999.10: From James (Randy) Spalding, Candidate for State
House of Representatives, 5th District, dated
September 26, 1972 , requesting that Bill 920 be
amended to provide an adequate transit system for
rural areas of Hawaii, more specifically, South
bj Kohala and North and South Kona.
fj 999.11: From Henry K. Boshard, Chairman, West Hawaii Committee,
dated September 21, 1972, requesting that an amendment
t. be made to Bill 920 to provide an adequate trans-
portation system for the 10,000 people of Kona.
999. 12: From Miss Kathryn Beveridge dated September 24, 1972,
recommending that the Council set in motion the
necessary legal steps to carry out the recommendation
of the Voorhees ' study.
Receive and file, and insure writers
that the Council will review the
transit system six to twelve months
after it has been in operation.

UTILIZATION OF PAPAYA FRUIT"

AMENDMENT
