The following are the recommendations of the Recreation Committee
which were considered at its meeting of December 27, 1972:
COMMUNICATIONS

From Parks & Recreation Director dated December 8,
1972, requesting Council authorization to write
the State Board of Land and Natural Resources for
a formal set-aside of a 9. 5-acre parcel for a
playground facility in the Panaewa farmlots area.
Approve request.
iCc, C- No. 22: OUTRIGGER CANOE RACING
From Parks & Recreation Director dated December 8 ,
1972, requesting a $15,000 appropriation to
purchase five canoes to promote the development of
more racing clubs to renew interest in the ancient
Hawaiian sport of outrigger canoe racing. The
County would loan the canoes to the clubs during
the racing season and retain them for its own
program during the off-season. < &
Approve and refer to the
Finance Committee for funding.
