RECREATION COMMITTEE
REPORT NO. 2

The following are the recommendations of the Recreation Committee
which were considered at its meeting of January 10, 1973:
COMMUNICATIONS
/ 4c C- No. 65: HAINA BALL PARK
From Councilman De Luz dated January 4, 1973 ,
requesting the County to take over the Haina Ball
Park on a lease basis to provide the Honokaa area
with a suitable park. Informs that Honokaa Sugar
Company is willing to lease the ball park to the
County on a yearly lease basis. The facility is
complete with lights , bleachers , grandstand,
concession booth and restrooms. The County would
have to maintain the grounds and pay for utilities ,
with the exception of water, for $100 annually.
Request the administration to
negotiate with Honokaa Sugar
Company to lease the Haina Ball
Park on an annual basis with the
County paying for the maintenance
of the grounds and utilities.

' 'No. 1: ACQUISITION OF LAND AT POHOIKI, SOUTH KOHALA
Authorize the Parks & Recreation Director to acquire
land at Pohoiki, South Kohala, for park purposes as
requested by some members of the Waimea-Kawaihae-
Puako Community Association. Funds to come from
"Acquisition of Land for Waimea Park, " if necessary.
