The following is the recommendation of the Recreation Committee
which was considered at its meeting of June 13, 1973:
COMMUNICATION
6,1t, (! -No. 280: BEACH ACCESS
From Grant Kojima dated April 25, 1973, expressing
his feeling that the beaches that now belong to
the public should not be only accessible to resort
hotel guests and hopes that Kaimu Beach will not
fall victim to commercial development but will stay
untouched for Hawaii' s present and future generations.

writer for his interest and
concern.
4,, e _ No. 303: LIGHTS - HAKALAU BALL PARK & TENNIS COURT
From Jack Y. Ouye, President, Hakalau Recreational
Council, informing that they have received a letter
from Governor Burns saying that the lights for the
Hakalau Park will be let out on bid soon. While
the County is working on this project, requests that
consideration be given for lights at the tennis
court and adjoining the baseball park and that a new
grandstand building be constructed to replace the
old one.
Inform writer that the Public Works
Department is finalizing the plans
and specifications for the Hakalau
Park lights and will be put out to bid
soon.
Writer also be informed that the
lights for the tennis court and
adjoining ball park area and
construction of a new grandstand
will be considered in future
capital improvement programs for
Hakalau Park.

No. 322: ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMITS AND FEES
CAMPING ON COUNTY PARKS (C-1341)
From Clifford H. F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated
May 29 , 1973 , informing that they find the proposed
bill for an ordinance establishing permits and fees
as drafted unconstitutional and unacceptable, and
recommends that the proposed ordinance be redrafted
so as not to be subject to constitutional attack.
