The following are the recommendations of the Recreation Committee
which were considered at its meeting of November 26, 1973 :
,COMMUNICATIONS
4„ c_ No . 513 : OFFER OF PROPERTY FOR PARK USE
From Eulida L. Olds, Ruth Remneff and Mr. & Mrs . Francis
Sweeney, dated October 1, 1973 , informing that they have
three contiguous lots (total area - 37, 159 sq. ft . ) in
the Lehia Park Subdivision on the makai side of
Kalanianaole Street (TMK: 2-1-17 :33 , 34, 35) which they
would like to offer to the County for $6.25 per square
foot . These parcels are fairly level and partially
landscaped so it would involve very little expense to
convert the lots to a lovely park and picnic area;
57$: From Robert T . Fukuda, Parks & Recreation Director,
dated November 12, 1973, informing that considering
the total purchase price of S252, 894.75, their
department cannot justify nor support the purchase of
the subject properties at this time.
Further informs that as much as possible, they have
attempted to implement the Keaukaha Study recommendations
formulated by the Planning Department and their efforts
are now being channeled toward development of the
properties under public control:
Support the position of the Director
of Parks and Recreation and refuse
the offer made by the property owners.
Comm, 576 : MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE - CONCESSION BID
From Robert T. Fukuda, Parks & Recreation Director,
dated November 13, 1973 , informing that the specifi-
cations for the concession at the Hilo Municipal Golf
Course have not been drawn up yet . The present "pro"

Comm. 576 concession will terminate on July 31, 1974, and
(cont . ) specifications will be prepared and advertised for
bids in March at which time they will be happy to
accommodate the Committee 's request to see the
specifications:

RECOMMENDATION
4u, .. No . 1: STARTING GATES - PANAEWA EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Request the Department of Parks and Recreation to
look into the feasibility and advisability of purchasing
starting gates for the Panaewa Equestrian Center.
