The following are the recommendations of the Recreation Committee
which were considered at its meeting of April $, 1974:
COMMUNICATIONS
�No . 6$2: KONA WHITE SANDS BEACH - REQUESTS (CM-29)
From Council Chairman Robert M. Yamada dated
February $, 1974, referring for disposition the
following requests from Mrs. Dorothy Draeger regarding
Kona White Sands Beach:
(1) Construct restroom facilities, but in the
interim, provide portable toilets prior to
the Easter vacation.
(2) Establish no parking on the mauka side of the
beach to allow for safe loading and unloading
of passengers.
(3 ) Place "No Dogs Allowed" signs on the beach.

Copy of letter to Mayor Kimura from the Kunitake
family asking that the destruction of the pavement
for the ballfield on the old Kona Airport Park be
stopped:

dated March 27, 1974, requesting Council authorization
to pursue the acquisition of 0.96$ acres of land as
an addition to Pohoiki Park:

PETITION
/6,0_,L, 'No . 9 : OLD KONA AIRPORT PARK
A petition dated March 25, 1974, to move forward on
baseball-football facilities at Old Kona Airport site
and commending the action of the State and County of
Hawaii for their joint role in providing these facili-
ties:

the petitioners for their support .
RECOMMENDATION
KcQ No . 1: PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL CANOES - OUTRIGGER CANOE
RACING PROGRAM (b-22/RC-1, 'FC-2/Res. 14)
Recommends that the unexpended funds from the $15,000
appropriation for the purchase of canoes be used to
acquire additional canoes to increase the number to
