Suefuji, Planning Director, and Robert Fukuda, Parks & Recreation Director, dated April 30, 1974, transmitting for review and appropriate action the County Recreation Plan prepared by the firm of Aotani and Associates. Accept and file. �No. 919. 1: HAWAII ISLAND TRANSIT SYSTEM From Mrs. Amy Hamane, Field Director, American Lung Assocation of Hawaii, dated July 31, 1974, expresses its continuing support for an adequate and reliable • bus system for the County of Hawaii; feels that public transportation should remain a top priority item and that the County must maintain a permanent committment to providing this service. 919. 2 : From Mary W. Earl dated August 7, 1974, criticizing Council Chairman Yamada' s request for a re-evaluation of the transit system. X919. 3: From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated August 12, 1974, reporting on the Hawaii County Transit System. 919. 4: From Dante K. Carpenter, Recreation and Transportation Committee Chairman, dated August 13, 1974, transmitting the operating report for the month of July from Transit Manager Walton Wood. Receive and file and Recreation and Transportation Committee Chairman requested Transit Manager to submit monthly operating report to the Committee. No. 65-i 1974 Date: AUG 21, IL s • S RTC-29 -2- August 14, 1974 C- No. 922 : KEAKEALANI SCHOOL From Parks and Recreation Director Robert Fukuda dated July 25 , 1974, informing that the Volcano Park Committee has requested the Department of Parks and Recreation to seek temporary use of the former school grounds until development of the proposed ballfield within the Volcano Park has been completed. Requests authorization to negotiate a lease arrangement with the Department of Education. Approve request and authorize the Parks and Recreation Director to negotiate a lease arrangement for the use of Keakealani School with the Department of Education. ,yam e- No. 923 : KAILUA PARK DEVELOPMENT PLAN From P&R Director Fukuda dated July 30, 1974, submitting the Kailua Park Development Plan for review.' Approve the idea in concept. Request that the Recreation and Transportation Committee Chairman coordinate actions necessary to bring this plan to fruition. Pet. 6. 2 : MOHOULI NEIGHBORHOOD PARK From P&R Director Fukuda dated July 29, 1974, submitting the Development Plan for Mohouli Neighborhood Park for review. Approve the idea in concept. Request that the Recreation and Transportation Committee Chairman coordinate actions necessary to bring this plan to fruition. 111 111 RTC-29 -3- August 14, 1974 45,, e- No. 940: SENIOR CITIZENS ' PARK - KAWAILANI STREET From P&R Director Fukuda dated August 1, 1974, requesting to defer the _proposal to secure and develop 10 acres of State-owned land in light of existing and proposed recreational facilities in the area and present fiscal capabilities. Informs of developments in the vicinity and while none of the sites will be specifically developed as a senior citizens ' facility, consideration has been and will continue to be given to satisfy all age groups in the design of recreational facilities. RECOMMENDATION /Su, No. 1 : YIELD SIGNS Request that the Public Works Department conduct a study on the general usage on all yield signs in the County of Hawaii and report back to Committee.
