The following are the recommendations of the Recreation and Transportation
Committee which were considered at its meeting of October 16 , 1975 :
COMMUNICATIONS
kLC- No. 919.12: BUS CONTRACT
(Res. 463) From Director of Finance Stanley A. Nakamae dated
September 29 , 1975 , submitting for adoption a
resolution which obligates the County to provide
necessary funds in future years, as required by
Section 10-11 of the County Charter. This is in
preparation for award of a three-year bus contract
with County option to extend for two one-year periods.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 463.

Copy of letter to Mayor Matayoshi from
Councilman Kawahara dated October 2, 1975 , regarding
the County' s request to the State Board of Land &
Natural Resources for 50 acres at Kua Bay, North Kona,
for development of a park.

No. 1569 : DEDICATION OF PARK SITE WITHIN AINA PUA SUBDIVISION
From Rodney Y. Inaba, President, GHR Investment Company,
transmitting for review and comments a copy of letter
submitted to Mayor Matayoshi regarding their wish to
dedicate a five-acre parcel within their subdivision to
the County of Hawaii.

From Mayor Matayoshi dated September 29 , 1975 commenting
on: 1) improvement of cross ventilation in the Civic
Auditorium; 2) filling of the Recreation Leader position
in the Kona area; and 3) a policy determination on
appropriations in terms of the County' s long-range
recreation plans.

No. 1575 : AMENDMENTS TO URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964
From U. S. Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink dated
September 19 , 1975 , submitting for information the
report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and
Urban Affairs on the bill (S.662) to amend the Urban
Mass Transportation Act of 1964 to strengthen
transportation assistance to areas other than urbanized
areas, and provide transportation assistance to meet
the needs of elderly and handicapped persons.

No. 1580: YOUNG BROTHERS, LTD. - INVESTIGATION OF RATE INCREASES
AND CONSOLIDATION OF DOCKETS
From Council Chairman Yamada dated October 1 , 1975 ,
submitting for information a copy of the petition
before the Public Utilities Commission in the matter
of Young Brothers, Ltd. , investigation of rate
increases and consolidation of dockets.

Res. 468: SALARY ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
Amends the salary ordinance for the Department of
Parks and Recreation.
