The following are the recommendations of the Recreation and Transportation
Committee which were considered at its meeting of May 13 , 1976:
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1850: KAMEHAMEHA-WAIANUENUE-BAYFRONT INTERSECTION
�REC. 2/RTC-65
From Mayor Matayoshi dated April 30, 1976 informing that
the Department of Public Works is now in the process of
discussing the more feasible alternativesto simplify`.the
traffic pattern at the subject intersection with the
Downtown Improvement Association, the State Highways
Division, with the Police Department, and the Highway
Safety Council. Upon completion of these discussions,
the comments will be evaluated and a finalized proposal
or a supplemental status report will be submitted on
May 31, 1976.

SUBDIVISION
From Parks & Recreation Director Milton T. Hakoda, dated
May 4, 1976, responding to the Committee' s request for a
report on the P,anaewa Equestrian Center, Environmental
Impact Statement ( criteria for a park) , and Alii Kai
• Subdivision.

No. 1865 : GILBERT CARVALHO PARK IMPROVEMENTS
Copy of letter to Parks & Recreation Director from
Joseph H. Correira, Chairman, Community Improvements
Committee, Kaumana-Piihonua Community Association, dated
May 5 , 1976, requesting that the $50,000 appropriation
for Gilbert Carvalho Park Improvement be earmarked
specifically to begin planning of the community center
complex at the park.
