The following are the recommendations of the Recreation and Transportation
Committee which were considered at its meeting of August 24, 1976:
COMMUNICATIONS
7No. 20. 29: KAIMU BEACH
From Megumi Kon dated August 10, 1976, transmitting for
information letters from Colonel F. M. Pender and
Dr. Robert I . Tilling. The Corps of Engineers' position
on the Kaimu Beach Project is to defer all work until
such time that the County of Hawaii requests the Corps
- to reinitiate the project. At that time they- will
evaluate the effects of the subsidence and determine
whether; long-term studies and a new environmental
impact statement are needed.

From Sumio Nakashima dated August 6, 1973, transmitting
D2 dedication deed for public park site in Alii Kai
Subdivision.

From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated August 9 , 1976,
informing the Executive Board of the Hamakua District
Development Council has recommended that the existing
rodeo area be purchased by the county so they will
initiate acquisition procedures for the site®

RECOMMENDATIONS
A, No. 1: IMPROVEMENT OF PARKING AREAS AT COUNTY PARKS
(1%.rziyux7 Request administration to look into improvement of the
parking area at County parks in Keaukaha. Recommend that
a method of compacting the ground with crushed lava
gravel and dry cement be considered. (Kawahara/Levin)

Request administration to repair and/or replace damaged
signs County wide and submit a report on the estimated
cost to do the work. (Kawahara/Yadao)

dedication deed for public park ,site in Alii Kai
Subdivision.
406.1: . From Parks and Recreation Director Milton Hakoda dated
August 9, 1976, submitting a status report on the park
site dedication for Alii Kai Subdivision.
Park dedication deed will be accepted
when conditions stipulated. in :`Comm. .'406.1
have been satisfactorily completed: -
(1 ) Roads are acceptable
(2) Drainage concerns are satisfactorily
completed
(3) Time table be set for correction of
problems
(4) Submission of easement grants
(5) Grantee is not required to improve
the property until such time that
funds are available.
