COMMUNICATIONS , C- No. 38. 7 : .KAUMANA PARK DEVELOPMENT (Res. 629) From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated August 23, 1976 J. informing thatin order to construct all necessary roadway improvements to the Kaumana Park Site, condemnation of certain parcels of land is neces- sary. Submits attached resolution authorizing the Corporation Counsel to acquire the necessary par- . cels by eminent domain, should the Corporation Counsel be unable to acquire the property by nego- tiation. Approve and recommend adoption of Resolution 629. No. 917. 2 : KEALAKEHE REGIONAL SPORTS COMPLEX From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated August 17 , 1976 submitting for review and files the masterplan for the Kealakehe Regional Sports Complex. Date: ,F...1.5..791.5.. • RTC-75 - 2 - September 9, 1976 No. 1460. 16: VOLCANO PARK From Councilman Kawahara dated July 27, 1976, sug- gesting that the County contact the School District Superintendent to arrive at a determination as to the possible uses of the former Keakealani School with the objective of ascertaining whether the school property might not be utilized as a County park to meet the needs of the area as is suggested in the attached letter from Governor Ariyoshi. 1460. 18 : From Parks and Recreation Director Milton Hakoda dated August 17, 1976 informing that discussions with the Department of Education indicate that the former Keakealani School site will be extensively used as an outdoor education center; therefore, it would be difficult to conduct on going parks and recrea- tion programs . Receive and file. No. 1669 . 1: BAKER' S BEACH DEVELOPMENT - HILO HAWAII From Parks and Recreation Director Milton T. Hakoda dated August 17, 1976, informing of status of the Baker' s Beach project and requests Council appro- priation of $50, 000 to expedite the acquisition and design work. /6.0_0- 1669. 2 : From Helene Hale, dated August 18, 1976 writing on behalf of her clients, Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Walton, who own the leasehold interest in two lots on Baker' s Beach and informs that if no action is taken on acquiring their interest by the end of this year, they will proceed with their development plans. Approve request of Parks and Recreation Director and refer to Finance Committee for funding. No. 1794. 5 : HAWAII COUNTY TRANSIT SYSTEM - JULY OPERATING REPORT From Mayor Herbert T. Receive and file. ,krGc- No. 2008: PUNA HUI OHANA' S REQUEST From Councilman Dante K. Carpenter, dated September 1, 1976, enclosing communications regarding Puna Hui Ohana' s request to the State Department of Land and Natural Resources for use of a two-acre parcel of land, tax key 1-02-03, parcel 11, former site of the Kalapana School to provide a facility for native groups to conduct cultural, recreational and educational pro- grams and a place to meet and discuss community con- cerns, and recommends support of a lease arrangement between the community and the Department of Land and Natural Resources for the cultural center. Support request of the Puna Hui Ohana to the State Department of Land and Natural Resources and refer to Corporation Counsel to prepare appro- priate resolution. ORDINANCE No. 244: KUKUI CAMP ROAD - SPEED LIMIT (C-1976/PWC-82) Amends Chapter 6 (Traffic Code) Article 8, Hawaii County Code, as amended, establishing a 25-mile per hour speed limit for Kukui Camp Road in Mt.
