KAUILA STREET SEWERS (Job No. S-1870)
From Chief Engineer dated January 29, 1973,
transmitting for consideration and acceptance
the Assessment Report dated January 22, 1973
for the subject project. Also submits Resolution 19
approving, ratifying and adopting the Assessment
Report and providing for such bond issue as shall
be necessary and authorizing a public hearing.
Accept the Assessment Report and
recommend adoption of Resolution 19.

submitting for confirmation appointees to the
Planning Commission, Civil Service Commission,

Mr. Tsuneyoshi Matsumoto and

Aixem,n ,No. 78: ODOR FROM COUNTY RUBBISH DUMP
From Richard Harada, ILWU Local 142 Hawaii Division
PAC Chairman, dated January 10, 1973, asking the
Council to request the Public Works Department to
alleviate the obnoxious odor coming from the County
rubbish dump.
Refer to the Chief Engineer for
immediate attention and disposition.
No. 85: ALII DRIVE WATERLINE
hc` ����` From Councilman Kawahara dated January 11, 1973,
informing that many residents and property owners
in the Kahaluu-Keauhou area are asking for a larger
waterline along Alii Drive from Alii Kai Subdivision
to the vicinity of Kahaluu Park as there is presently
only a small and insufficient line in this area.
Refer to the Department of Water Supply
for their consideration and disposition.
1fs,V,n . No. 86: KONA REFUSE DUMPS
From Councilman Kawahara dated January 12, 1973,
informing that refuse dumps located at Wailea,
Keei, Kailua, Keauhou and a few other "unofficial"
places in North and South Kona are "eye-sores"
and present serious health hazards. Recognizing
that the County is working on a transfer and land-
fill system for the Kona area, requests emergency
relief measures at the dumps.
Refer to the Chief Engineer for
his immediate consideration and
disposition.

No. 87: KONA HOUSE NUMBERING
From Councilman Kawahara dated January 14, 1973,
informing that there is great need for establishing
a system of house numbering and improved naming and
marking of streets in Kona.

at the Department of Public Works. )
�No. 95: PHASE II OF THE KAILUA SEWAGE SYSTEM
From David Basque dated January 15, 1973, requesting
consideration for himself and all the property
owners along the Kailua sewage system that the County
put laterals in immediately so that they can connect
to the sewer line. Also requests that an investigation
be made on this project and report back for the
benefit of the people in Kona.

RECOMMENDATION
AL l, , No. 1: DOG POUND
Recommends that a contract be entered into between
the Hawaii Island Humane Society and the County of
Hawaii whereby the Humane Society will conduct a
study for the organization and operation of the dog
pound. (There has been $10,000 appropriated under
Ordinance 523 for this contractual work. )

transmitting for consideration and acceptance
the Assessment Report dated January 22, 1973
for the subject project. Also submits

Accepts the Assessment Report.
Recommends adoption of Resolu-
tion 19 and that a public hearing
be held on Tuesday, March 6, 1973,
at 7: 30 p.m. in the County Council-
room.
