The following are the recommendations of the Public Works Committee
which were considered at its meeting of January 21, 1974:
COMMUNICATIONS
kcd- No . 62$: ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE
(Bill 23 ) From Clifford H . F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated
January 9, 1974, submitting for adoption a bill amending
Section 210-7 of the electrical code to postpone the
enforcement of installation of circuit breakers until
June 1, 1974:
Approve and recommend passage of
Bill 23 on first reading. .
£ d— No . 632: IMPROVEMENTS TO SADDLE ROAD (Rec . 1/PSTC-14)
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated December 31, 1973,
informing that in 1967 the Legislature mandated that
the State Highways Division take over the Saddle Road
under Phase III but the County has been informed that
the take-over would be delayed due to lack of
appropriations . Therefore, recommends that all
planning for the Hilo-Kona road and for major improve-
ments to the Saddle Road be left under State juris-
diction, and that the County continue the incremental
resurfacing of the existing Saddle Road :
Accept recommendations of the Mayor.

From Robert T. Fukuda, Parks & Recreation Director,
dated January 11, 1974, requesting authorization to
pursue the transfer of State property at Ponahawai,
South Hilo, for expansion of the Veterans ' Cemetery:

resolution granting a driveway variance for the gas
company tank site in Keauhou, North Kona:

(Res. 172) From Stanley A . Nakamae, Director of Finance, dated
January 1$, 1974, transmitting for adoption a resolution
authorizing an annually renewable service agreement with
the Hawaii Island Humane Society and providing funds
pursuant to Section 6 of Ordinance No . 11:
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 172.
RESOLUTION
No . 161: GEOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION
Operation ID be instituted by:
(1) Asking that all departments and agencies of the
County cooperate in the upgrading of the identifi-
cation of our localities, streets and highways,
landmarks, and places of interest ; and
(2) Urging the residents of the County to properly
identify their homes by displaying their house
numbers and street names, which information is
available at the County Department of Public Works:
