The following are the recommendations of the Public Works
Committee which were considered at its meeting of February 13, 1974 :

�No. 562: ALICE GREENWELL - REQUEST TO ABANDON ROAD REMNANT
ALONG ALII DRIVE, KAUMALUMALU, NORTH KONA
From Roy K. Nakamoto, Attorney, dated November 2,
1973, on behalf of his client, Alice Greenwell,
requesting the County to abandon a road remnant
containing an area of 492 square feet (TMK: 7-7-04:45)
so that she may then apply to the State to purchase
the property:
562.1: From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated November 20,
1973, informing that they have found that the road
remnant adjoining Mrs. Alice Greenwell's property
along Alii Drive is no longer of any use to the County
as a roadway:
From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated January 23,
(Res. 176) 1974, submitting the quitclaim deed and an abandonment
resolution for the subject road remnant for approval
and authorization for execution of the deed by the
Mayor. The documents have been reviewed and approved
by the Corporation Counsel's Office:
Approve and recommend adoption of
Resolution 176 to abandon the road
remnant ; and grant authorization to
the Mayor to execute the quitclaim
deed .

the dedication deed for the right of way and various
easements in the Kawailani Place Subdivision:
e- 597.1: From Clifford H. F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated
January 17, 1974, recommending that the dedication
deed for roadways, water system and drainage system
in the Kawailani Place Subdivision be accepted by the
Council. Transmits approvals of the Departments of
Public Works and Water Supply:

(Res. 177) OF KAAUHUHU HOMESTEAD ROAD

1974, submitting the quitclaim deed and an abandonment
resolution for the subject road for approval and
authorization for execution of the deed by the Mayor.
The documents have been reviewed and approved by the

From Kona Chamber of Commerce, Kailua District
Committee, and State and County Public Works
Committee, dated January 22, 1974, thanking the
Mayor and Council for their efforts in widening
and resurfacing of Walua Road and the realignment
work for a new Kam III Road to Keauhou. Extends
their continual support and assistance in
connection with improvements of Alii Drive, Palani

Road and providing guard rails for Kuakini Highway
Extended until such time as proper roadway widening
can be effected :

during their 13th International Festival of the

No. 677 : CLOSING OFF OF KEAWE STREET - ETHNICAL MUSICAL DAY

ment Association, dated February 1, 1974, requesting
that Keawe Street be closed up from Kalakaua to Mamo
Street on either February 16 or March 2nd in the after-
noon for an ethnical musical day, and asking for the
performance by the County band during the event :

(KUAKINI HIGHWAY & KAILUA-KAWAIHAE HIGHWAY)
ROAD REMNANT
From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated February 4,
1974, informing that the County of Hawaii is acquiring
TMK: 7-5-05 :65 in its entirety for the Palani Road
Improvement Project and that Liliuokalani Trust Estate,
the abutting land owner, has offered to purchase from
the County the remnant parcel of land (3, 262 sq. ft. )
that will not be required for the Palani Road right-
of-way.

Recommends that since the remnant parcel will not
serve the future needs of the County, the Council
accept the proposed offer of Liliuokalani Trust Estate
to purchase the remnant parcel of land :

ORDINANCE
Bill 1024: FUNDS - PUNA PROJECTS
(C-642) Amends Ordinance 586, the Capital Budget, by increasing
the appropriation for C-33903, Keaau Loop Safety Walkway,
by $10,000, creating a new project entitled "Kurtistown
Old Volcano Road Drainage Improvement" and appropriating
$13,000, and increasing totals accordingly.
