/No. 1212 : HILO DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION - EASTER
PROMOTION
From Calvin Tung, Vice President of the Hilo
Downtown Improvement Association, dated February 28,
1975, requesting the closing of Keawe Street from
Kalakaua Street to Furneaux Lane and also Haili
Street from Kamehameha Avenue to Kinoole Street
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 22 as part of Easter
Promotion, and assistance from the Parks Department
and the Police Department.
e- 1212.1: From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated March 7, 1975,
recommending favorable action to HDIA request.
Approve of the requests.
2 - No. 1213 : RUBBISH DUMPS
From Harriet Kaye, Environmental Quality Chairman of
the League of Women Voters of Hawaii County, dated
February 28, 1975, expressing dismay over the Council's
recommendation (PWC-46/Rec. 1) to continue the existing
rubbish dumps until such time as the anticipated
transfer stations and/or landfills are fully operational.
Feels that further delay is neglection of an already
long overdue problem.

/No. 1219 : RUBBISH DUMP OPERATIONS
From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated February 27,
1975, informing the Council of the steps the Department
of Public Works is following to keep the existing
County and privately-owned rubbish dumps used by the
general public operating.

4,..4. c. No. 1222 : KAWILI STREET IMPROVEMENTS
(Res. 363) From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated February 28,
1975 , transmitting for adoption a resolution authorizing
the Corporation Counsel to initiate proceedings in
Eminent Domain to acquire lands and easements necessary
for the Kawili Street Improvements Federal Aid Topics
Project.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 363.
