'ATE CF M�,�'•• RESOLUTION NO. 78 17 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA FOR THE RENOVATION OF ITS ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE CENTER. WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is a 501(c)(3) local nonprofit whose purpose is to assure critical habitat for native species and open space for future generations; and WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is renovating its newly acquired "forever home" into an Environmental Resource Center to be used by the community at large; and WHEREAS, the Environmental Resource Center, located in Pahoa Village, will provide much needed meeting space for community groups and individuals that have been displaced due to a recent fire that destroyed the Akebono Theater and Luquin's Mexican Restaurant, both of which were regularly used by the community as a meeting space; and WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is requesting funds to continue renovations to its Environmental Resource Center as well as to reimburse its board members for renovation expenses paid from their personal funds; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna for the renovation of its Environmental Resource Center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
