The following are the recommendations of the Public Works
Committee which were considered at its meeting of July 2 , 1975:
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 472.8: GRADING ORDINANCE
From Mayor Matayoshi dated June 25 , 1975, informing that
the Department of Public Works is presently preparing
the final draft of the grading ordinance to be submitted
to the County Council.

No. 851. 5: CAPITOL CHIP COMPANY - OVERWEIGHT TRUCKS
Copy of letter to Attorney John W. Goemans from
Police Chief Fergerstrom dated June :19, 1975 informing
that they are working with the State Division of Weight
and Measures to develop a program of enforcement on all
overloaded trucks and carriers.

)„, (1_ No. 1358: TRANSFER STATION SITE - PAHALA
From residents of Pahala dated May 23 , 1975 asking that
the transfer station site be relocated away from the•
residential area to either an agricultural or commercial
area.

alternate site in cooperation with
the Pahala community.

No. 1369: MAINTENANCE OF GLENWOOD HOMESTEAD ROAD
Copy of letter to Hawaii Tribune Herald Editor from
Stanley Sleightholm dated June 11, 1975 expressing his
disappointment in the lack of action from the Council,
the Mayor and the Ombudsman in regard to minimal care
and repair of the unpaved Glenwood Homestead Road
(1 mile) , southeast of Highway 11.
Refer to administration and request
that an improved road maintenance
program be implemented for the Puna
district.
"No. 1372: COUNTY HOUSING AGENCY (Bill 137)
From Clifford H.F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated
June 17, 1975 submitting opinion on questions posed in
Rec. 1/PWC-55 regarding Bill 137.

�No. 1373: IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - KALAPANA EXTENSION OF ELECTRIC LINES
From Corporation Counsel Clifford H.F. Lum dated
June 12 , 1975, informing that use of the improvement
district process to extend electrical lines would be a
subterfuge to finance a private venture with public funds
and therefore not authorized.

Az,2,- Comm. 1375: FUNDING FOR IMPROVEMENT TO HAUNANI ROAD
(Bill 141) From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated June 17, 1975,
submitting a bill to transfer fund balance of $44,482. 20
from the "Road Connections to New Volcano Road Realignment"
project to Improvement to Haunani Road in Volcano. The
work required involves widening and resurfacing approximately
1,000 feet of roadway.
Approve and recommend passage of
Bill 141 on first reading.

From Corporation Counsel Clifford H.F. Lum dated
June 9, 1975, submitting for acceptance a deed conveying
the subdivision roads and water system in the Akamine
Subdivision. Also submits approval of the Public Works
and Water Supply Departments.
Accept deed.
