' Bess , Assistant Corporation Counsel, dated March 8, 1976, submitting for acceptance a . • Dedication Deed from Sumiko Jyo dedicating the road- • way in 'Kealakehe Heights Subdivision, Increment 2; attaches memo from the Public Works Department recommending acceptance of the road dedication. • Accept dedication deed. • • • �No.. 1648: PUBLIC RESTROOMS IN SHOPPING CENTER From Councilman Andrew C.. Levin dated December 1, 1975, • requesting consideration to amend the Building Code • • to require public restrooms in shopping centers. 1648.1: From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated December 23, 1975, informing that all requirements regarding toilet facilities are regulated by the Public Health Regulations , . - enforced by the State Department of Health. At the present time the regulations do not require public restrooms in shopping centers. PWC-Report 72 • -2- • March 24, 1976 c _ No. 1648.2: From George Yuen, Director of Health, dated March 1, 1976, informing that they support the concept of restroom facilities for large public shopping areas which are under a single ownership or developer; believes that the provision of rest- room facilities in shopping centers and public places could best be implemented by the several county governments through ordinances as part of the building code; however, they will consider such a regulation in their rule-making procedures next year in their review of regulations. Recommend amendment to the Building Code to require public restrooms in shopping centers and refer to Corporation Counsel to prepare proper bill for an ordinance. /I, ce No. 1701.1: ALII KAI SUBDIVISION ESCAPE ROUTE (6-1701/PWC-68) (Alii Kai to Kuakini Highway) From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated March 8, 1976, submitting for deliberation the findings by the Department of Public Works regarding referral of an escape route through Alii Kai Subdivision. Approve project in concept for emergency purposes and request administration to develop alternative recommendations for Council' s consideration. �No. 1709: LUCY HENRIQUES MEDICAL CENTER, KAMUELA REQUEST FOR DRIVEWAY VARIANCE From Mark Sperry, Health Care Coordinator, Lucy Henriques Medical Center, dated January 24, 1976, requesting a variance on the width of the intersection of Mamalahoa Highway and the access road to the Medical Center. • i- e.- 1709.1: From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated March 12, 1976, (Res. submitting for consideration and adoption a resolution 561) to grant driveway variance to the subject center and attaches memo from the Planning Department recommending • approval. Approve driveway variance and recommend adoption to Resolution 561. No. 1736: IMPROVEMENTS TO ALALOA ROAD, HILO From Mrs. Audrey D. Shotwell, dated February 12, 1976, requesting that high priority be given to widening and improving Alaloa Road and particularly removing the blind hill, putting a walkway for school children and street lights. Refer to the 1976-77 CIP budget for consideration. �No. 1781: REMOVAL OF EXISTING WINDBREAK TREE LINE BORDERING WAIMEA PARK From William Morriss, Vice President, Waimea-Kawaihae Community Association, dated March 16, 1976, expressing strong opposition to the removal of the existing tree line of cyprus and robusta trees bordering the Waimea Park, as expanded, along Lindsey Road and requests that they be notified if there is serious consideration to remove said trees.
