The following are the recommendations of the Public Works Committee
which were considered at its meeting of July 14, 1976. •
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1647.5 : HAWAIIAN BEACHES WATER SYSTEM
Copy of letter to George Hacker from Paul Stuart,
President, The Hawaiian Beaches Community Association,
dated July 1, 1976, informing that the entire extent
of problems , both current and future, deriving from
the inadequacy of the Hawaiian Beaches water system
forces the residents to immediately pursue a solution
to this critical problem - either through a petition
for a County water improvement district and/or by
filing a civil action involving the developer, among
others . Their decision as to which direction they
will move in this matter will be considerably influenced
by his response or lack of response to their letter.

No. 1888. 2 : INVESTIGATION OF HUMANE SOCIETIES
From Mayor Matayoshi dated June 28, 1976 informing that
he has assigned the Director of Finance to conduct as
requested an in-depth study of the contractual arrange-
ment with both the Hawaii Island Humane Society and
the West Hawaii Humane Society and recommendation as
to whether the County should continue the present
arrangement or take over the pounds. This report will
be submitted by the deadline of February, 1977.

No. 1: SPEED LIMIT - KUKUI CAMP ROAD

a 25 mph speed limit on Kukui Camp Road in Mt. View
and that a bill for an ordinance be prepared, if advisable.

to provide the Hawaiian Beaches Community Association
with information on improvement district alternatives
and estimated cost per property owner for a water system
within the Hawaiian Beaches Subdivision.
