Depart- ment of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, dated July 26, 1976, transmitting the Draft Environ- mental Impact Statement for the proposed construction of approximately 31 miles of the Hawaii Belt Road from Kealakowaa Heiau at Holualoa to Milolii Junction at Papa and requests written comments prior to September 15, 1976. 847. 5 : Copy of letter to Ralph T. Yamada dated October 4, 1976 transmitting for information copy of letter to Mayor Matayoshi from Congressman Spark Matsunaga inform- ing that the full House Agriculture Committee approved the Wailuku-Alenaio Watershed project which will now go back to the Department of Agriculture for implemen- tation. Dallas dated May 1/ , 19/6, pointing out the problems connected with his plans to subdivide his property in Glenwood and asks that the County road be resurveyed and property records corrected to reflect the surveyors findings and subsequent corrective action. Also asks information on his request for a variance to the requirement for County dedicated water in order to subdivide his AG-5 property. 1891. 1: From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated September 14, 1976 informing that the subdivision problem between Alvin Dallas and his surveyor has been resolved and the sub- division is presently being processed by the County. Kawahara dated August 30, 1976 reporting that there are a number of vehicles being operated on the public roads in Hawaii County without the proper license tags and/or stickers and requests investigation and action by the administration. 1999 . 1 : From Mayor Matayoshi dated September 20, 1976 informing the Police Department has assured that they will make every effort to enforce the law against vehicles without proper license plates or stickers. No. 2000: IMPROVEMENT TO MAMALAHOA AND NAPOOPOO ROAD From Councilman Kawahara dated August 30, 1976 reporting that the Mamalahoa-Napoopoo junction is becoming in- creasingly dangerous and requests that the road be widened and sight distance improved. • • PWC-85 3 - October 14, 1976 No. 2000. 1: From Mayor Matayoshi dated September 15, 1976, informing that the cost estimate to improve the subject inter- section is $200,000, which includes cutting of the rock embankment on the east side of Mamalahoa Highway, lowering of the Mamalahoa Highway at the intersection, possible realignment of the Napoopoo Road connection and acquisition of additional right-of-way. Due to the high cost of the improvement, they will include the project for future CIP budget consideration. Receive and file. �No. .2001: ALII DRIVE From Councilman Kawahara dated August 30, 1976, informing of citizens' request that the section of Alii Drive from Magic Sands Park toiKahaluu Park be improved at the earliest possible date before some serious accidents occur. 2001. 1: From Mayor Matayoshi dated September 15,. 1976, informing the plans and specifications for improvement of the last phase of Alii Drive between Magic Sands Beach to ,Kahaluu Beach, Park are presently being prepared; a request for supplemental construction funds to implement the last phase improvements to Alii Drive will be submtted for consideration inthe future CIP budget. From Councilman Kawahara dated August 30, 1976 informing of request of residents that improvements be made to the highway section in the area of, .Okamura Store in Volcano whichis cracked, buckled and in very poor con- dition. 2003. 1: • From 'Mayor 'Matayoshi dated September 15, 1976 informing that due to the high cost ofresurfacing approximately one mile ofthe Old Volcano Road in the vicinity of Okamura Store (estimated cost-$55,000) ,. the project will be included in future. Lum dated _ September 16, 1976,, transmitting for acceptance the Dedication of Roadway Deed for the roadway within the Hilo Kula Subdivision. Mitchell to Chief Engineer Edward Harada asking for advice on how they can obtain a wider easement off the hospital road to the proposed medical group clinic. 2059. 1: Copy of letter to Kona Medical Associates from Chief Engineer dated September 30, 1976, informing that the Old Kona Hospital` site and roadway leading to the site from the Belt Highway was conveyed to the State of Hawaii; therefore, any request for easement over and across the Old Hospital site will need to be addressed to the State of Hawaii. These stream beds, are part of a future flood control system; with acceptance of the dedication, it will not be necessary for the County to buy these portions of the stream beds when the project is ready for con- struction.
