The following are the recommendations of the Public Works Committee
which were considered at its meeting of October 27, 1976.
COMMUNICATIONS
No. 1063.4: MORATORIUM ON CONSTRUCTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT IN
FLOOD-PRONE AREAS IN KONA
From Planning Director Raymond Suefuji dated October 4,
1976, informing of measures taken to accommodate the
flood-drainage concerns raised by the Kona Soil and
Water Conservation District.

C No. 1242. 1: IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 7 - KIMO PLACE
From Mr. & Mrs. Joe E. Farias dated October 21, 1976
informing that their property on Kimo Place containing
an area of 87, 120 square feet was assessed to pay for
the road improvements. Since they have subdivided
their property into five lots, asks that their original
assessable area be changed to 15, 000 square feet which
is the present lot size of TMK: 2-4-11-34. Their lot
is free and clear of all encumbrances and they wish to
assume responsibility for the total assessments due
under the improvement district on their lot.
Approve request and recommend passage
of Bill 253 on first reading to amend
the Preliminary Assessment Roll.

C-2078 : Code, Improvements by Assessments. The proposal intro-
(Con' t. ) duces a new concept that may find its way to solve the
problem of providing much needed improvements by
assessments as the County has been confronted with the
problem of solving the desires of residents in sub-
standard subdivisions to improve their roadways and
the delivery of public utilities to their homes.
Approve and recommend passage of
Bill 251 on first reading.
4,e_ Pet. 31 : REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY & GLENWOOD
HOMESTEAD ROAD INTERSECTION
From Ruth A. Sleightholm dated October /, 19/6, sub-
mitting a petition signed by herself and 54 other
residents of Glenwood and Mountain View requesting
installation of a street light at the intersection of
Mamalahoa Highway and Glenwood Homestead Road and sug-
gests also a street light at the next entrance to Fern
Forest Subdivision, Volcano of the Glenwood Homestead
Road.
Support petition and refer to the
State Highways Division for consi-
deration.
