The following are the recommendations of the Finance Committee
which were considered at its meeting of October 15, 1973:
COMMUNICATIONS
,& C No. 190.2: OHAI STREET PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY
NAALEHU, KAU (6-190.1/PSTC-9--Item 3)
From Edward Harada, Chief Engineer, dated September 25,
1973, submitting the preliminary design and cost estimate
of $13 , 000 for the subject project. Improvements
include a pedestrian walkway on the Hilo side of
Ohai Street between Mamalahoa Highway and the curve
at the top of Ohai Street, a distance of 1,246
feet, and pedestrian safety areas on both sides of
the crosswalk on Mamalahoa Highway.
The Committee concurs with the
recommendation of the Public
Safety & Transportation Committee
to approve of the project; therefore,
directs the Finance Director to set
up the funds.

claim be denied.
The Committee is in accord with the

AND THE TAX OFFICE BUILDING, KEAWE STREET, HILO
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura,dated September 28, 1973,
requesting authorization to seek the Executive
Order for the buildings for use by the County.
The Committee concurs and authorizes
the Mayor to seek the Executive Order
for the buildings.
RESOLUTION
No. 135: AMENDMENT TO SALARY ORDINANCE
Amends the Salary Ordinance for the Departments of
County Council, Finance, Planning, Public Works ,
Fire, Personnel Services and Police.

The Committee recommends adoption
of the resolution.
