The following are the recommendations of the Finance Committee
which were considered at its meeting of December 11, 1973 :

From Stephen G. Bess, Deputy Corporation Counsel, dated
November 2$, 1973, recommending that the claim be denied :
The Committee is in accord with the
opinion rendered by the Corporation
Counsel's Office and recommends that
the claim be denied .
Szd- No . 5$7: LEASING SPACE FOR COUNTY USE
OLD SURE SAVE MARKET BUILDING - CAPT. COOK, KONA
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated November 26, 1973,
requesting authorization to negotiate a lease with the
Kealakekua Ranch, Ltd . , for space (2,772 sq. ft . ) in
the old Sure Save Market building in Captain Cook,
Kona. The lease rent for this space will be 250 per
sq. ft . plus the common maintenance area charges
estimated to be approximately $60 per month. All
installation of walls, doors, toilets, and fixtures
would be at the expense of the County.
Upon settlement of the terms of the lease and completion
of the estimate of cost to prepare the space for
occupancy, they will submit the details of the lease
and costs for the Council's review and approval.
The Committee recommends approval of
the request and authorizes the adminis-
tration to negotiate a lease with the

24c r!,- No . 589 : REAPPOINTMENT TO LIQUOR COMMISSION
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated November 19, 1973,
submitting for confirmation the name of Mr. Takashi
Aragaki for reappointment to the Liquor Commission,
term ending December 3, l978:
The Committee recommends confirmation
of Mr. Takashi Aragaki for reappoint-
ment to the Liquor Commission.
No. 591: POLICE STATION SITE - KALAKAUA STREET
From Norman N. Inaba dated November 27, 1973, informing
of their interest in acquiring the fee simple title to
the police station site (TMK: 2-3-6-04) in the event
the site is abandoned for public purposes:
The Committee recommends that the
police station site be sold and the
proceeds from the sale be used to
help defray the cost of construction
of the new public safety building.
The Committee further recommends that
the writer be informed of the action
and that he be kept apprised of the
status of the land from time to time.
e4E,. 0 - No. 595 : FUNDING OF THE TITLE VII NUTRITION PROJECT FOR THE
ELDERLY
From Gladys E. Bowell, Executive on Aging, dated
November 30, 1973, informing that the Hawaii County
will be receiving a $99, 833 grant for the congregate
meals program in Kona and Hilo but a 10 percent matching
in-kind funds of $11,092.55 is required . They are able
to obligate all but $3,485 .00 of this money from other
"in-kind" sources and therefore, requests an appropriation
of that sum:
The Committee recommends approval of
the request for $3,485 .00 and requests
the Director of Finance to set up the
funds.
