From Henry K. Boshard dated January 10, 1974, informing
that their claim is legitimate and they will request
legal assistance from the Hawaii Conference Foundation
to act on its behalf :
/600: BOISE CASCADE HIGHWAY - LIABILITY CONCERNS
From Herbert T. Matayoshi, Finance Committee Chairman,
dated December 11, 1973 , submitting for information,
a copy of his letter to the Chief Engineer and the
status report from the Chief Engineer on the Boise
Cascade Highway between Mamalahoa and the new Kawaihae-
Kailua Highway:
652 : REQUEST FOR FUNDS - SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTER
From Dorothy Heverly, Director, Special Education
Center, Hilo Association to Help Retarded Children,
dated January 10, 1974, submitting a copy of letter
that was sent to Mayor Kimura requesting $12,000 a
year to provide organized recreation for the adult
retardates and the severely handicapped people :

,C- No . 366 .1: KONA ARTS CENTER - RE-APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS
From Robert T. Fukuda, Parks & Recreation Director,
dated December 27, 1973, informing that the restoration
of the church building which will serve as the new
Kona Arts Center will be completed by March, 1974,
and requests the re-appropriation of lapsed funds of
S10,000 (Ordinance 474) so that the program can be
implemented :
The Committee recommends approval
of the request to re-appropriate the
lapsed funds and refer to the Director
of Finance to set up the funds.
/60A- No. 566.1: CLAIM OF HAWAIIAN INSURANCE COMPANIES (C-566)
From Earl T. Nakasato, Deputy Corporation Counsel,
dated December 31, 1973, recommending denial of the
claim:
The Committee is in accord with the
opinion rendered by the Corporation
Counsel's Office and recommends that
the claim be denied .

two legislative bills relating to lapsed warrants and

December 2$, 1973, informing that they are closing
their file on the subject claim and recommends that
the Council close their file also :
The Committee accepts the recommen-
dation of the Corporation Counsel to
close the file on the subject claim.

SALARY ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
Res. 160: Amends the salary ordinance for the Department of
Parks & Recreation (Maintenance Division) :

Res. 164: Amends the salary ordinance for the Departments of
Research & Development and Public Works (Division of
Automotive Equipment and Motor Pool) :

Res. 167: Amends the salary ordinance for the Parks & Recreation
Department (Office of the Director of P&R) :
(Intr. by: Mr. Matayoshi)
Res. 16$: Amends the salary ordinance for the Police Department :

The Committee recommends adoption of
the resolutions to amend the Salary
Ordinance .
Res. 169 : PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
(C-631) Transfers$$99,715 from C-42602, Kona Sewer System
Phase III, to C-22151, Public Safety Building:
(Intr. by: Mr. Matayoshi)
The Committee recommends the adoption
of Resolution 169 to provide additional
funds for construction and other purposes
for the Public Safety Building project .

Bill 1023 : POLICE COMMUNICATION & INSTALLATION OF HIGHWAY CALL
,& (C-630) BOXES
Amends Ordinance 586, the Capital Budget Ordinance
for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1973, and
ending June 30, 1974:
(Intr. by: Mr. Matayoshi)
The Committee is in accord with the
intent and purpose of Bill 1023 and
recommends passage on first reading.
The purpose of the bill is to appro-
priate $60,000 for the Hawaii Police
Department Communications System project .
Bill 1024: FUNDS - PUNA PROJECTS
(C-642) Amends Ordinance 586, the Capital Budget Ordinance
for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1973, and
ending June 30, 1974:
(Intr. by: Mr. Fujii)
The Committee is in accord with the
intent and purpose of Bill 1024 and
recommends passage on first reading.
The purpose of the bill is to appro-
priate additional funds of $10,000 for
the Keaau Loop Safety Walkway and
813,000 for the Kurtistown Old Volcano
Road Drainage Improvement .
