YOSHIKO NAKAMURA From Roy K. Nakamoto, Attorney, dated November 19, 1973 , submitting claim on behalf of client for injuries she suffered in the amount of $15,000 plus out-of-pocket expenses and losses in the sum of $1,419. 37. Informs incident occurred on June 6, 1973 , when she tripped and fell over the then existing low wall at the Puna end of the County Building. C'- 581. 1: From Clifford H.F. Lum, Corporation Counsel, dated June 6, 1975, informing that an investigation of the claim revealed that the County is probably liable for the alleged accident that resulted in damages and injuries sustained by the claimant and asks the Council to approve and appropriate settlement amount of $5 , 500. Authorize acceptance of the settlement, approve settlement amount of $5, 500 and refer to Finance Director for funding. "No. 809: CLAIM - ELIZABETH KAPURAS From Roy K. Nakamoto, Attorney, dated April 29, 1974, submitting claim on behalf of client and her husband in the sum of $50,000 for their injuries , loss of wages , medical and hospital expenses and property damage result- ing from an automobile accident on November 1, 1973 , at the intersection of Komohana and Kawailani Streets. From Earl T. Nakasato, Deputy Corporation Counsel, dated June 3 , 1975 informing they feel that the County of Hawaii is not liable for the damages and the injuries alleged in the claim and recommends that the claim be denied. Wendell J. Costa for reimbursement of $31. 20 to defray vehicle damages incurred while in performance of his official duty on December 30 , 1974. 1140. 1: From Stephen G. Bess , Assistant Corporation Counsel, dated May 23 , 1975, informing they believe that Sgt. Costa is not entitled to a reimbursement for damages to his automobile, incurred on December 30, 1974. Accept recommendation of the Corporation Counsel and recommend that the claim be denied. No. 1141: CLAIM - WALTER AND SANDRA MATSUMOTO From George S. Yuda, Attorney, dated January 5 , 1975, submitting claim in excess of $25 ,000 on behalf of clients for injuries and damages suffered by reason of negligent and tortious acts of Lionel Lincoln, William Hing, and Chadwick Fukui, employees of the Hawaii County Police Department, on July 9, 1974, at Apartment 7, Kona-Lanai Apartments , Kailua-Kona. 1141. 1: From Earl T. Nakasato, Deputy Corporation Counsel, dated June 25 , 1975 , recommending that the claim be denied. Accept recommendation of the Corporation Counsel and recommend that the claim be denied. Aci- c_ No. 1285. 1: DISPOSAL OF BUILDINGS (C-1285/FC-45) AT OLD KAILUA SCHOOL GROUNDS From Mayor Matayoshi dated June 17, 1975, informing that the Department of Education is not receptive to the continued use of the two buildings located at the old Kailua School grounds and school officials prefer to see the immediate removal of these buildings. Informs to retain and relocate the buildings would create problems as there is no site on which they can be immediately located and also the cost of moving and renovating to usable condition. Approve disposal of buildings at the old Kailua School grounds and recommend adoption of Resolution 437. • FC-49 • -3-3 July 1, 1975 No. 1371: SALARY COMMISSION - RULES AND REGULATIONS From William MacKenzie, Chairman, Salary Commission, dated June 17, 1975 transmitting for appropriate action the Rules and Regulations of the Salary Commission of the County of Hawaii. Approve Rules and Regulations of the Salary Commission of the County of Hawaii. 44, c_ No. 1382: DEPOSITORY FOR COUNTY FUNDS (Res. 436) From Director of Finance Stanley A. Nakamae dated June 23 , 1975, submitting a resolution designating Territorial Savings and Loan Association as a depository for County funds. Informs that all other banks and savings and loan associations with offices in the County have been so designated. Approve and recommend adoption of Resolution 436. ORDINANCE Bill 143: INSPECTION FEE & STICKERS (C-1093 - 1093.4/FC-46) Amends Chapter 6 (Traffic Code) , Article 19, Hawaii County Code, as amended, by changing the inspection fee and cost of inspection stickers.
