dated August 25, 1975 submitting for filing a Release
executed by claimant Mrs. Yoshiko Nakamura.

�No. 857.1: GRANTS-IN-AID DISTRIBUTION - HILO JAIL
From Mayor Matayoshi dated September 3, 1975 informing
that the Governor has advised that the amount of
grants-in-aid distributions to the County of Hawaii
for this fiscal year and ensuing fiscal years have
been reduced by the cost of the jail function which
was transferred to the State on July 1, 1975. The
amount of $142,000 budgeted for the jail program in
fiscal year 1974-75 will be adjusted to reflect this
reduction in anticipated revenues.

From Richard S .H. Wong, Chairman, Committee on Ways
and Means, dated August 27, 1975, informing that their
Committee is conducting a review of state and county
officials' salaries and hearings are being scheduled
for the period September 22-24. Extends invitation
to appear before the Committee to present any infor-
mation or comments concerning state and county salaries.

Commission to make a joint presen-
tation to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

C - No. 1546: DEPENDENTS OF ALBERT DELOS SANTOS, DECEASED
From Lionel D. Meyer, Deputy Corporation Counsel,
dated September 10, 1975, advising that an investigation
of the above claim has revealed that the County may
be liable for the alleged injury and death of
Mr. Albert Delos Santos and asks the Council to
authorize acceptance of the settlement, approve the
settlement amount of $25,000, and appropriate said
sum of $25,000.
