were considered at its meeting of July 27, 1976.

�No. 1864. 3: LAVA BARRIER SYSTEM FOR THE PROTECTION OF HILO
(C-1864. 2/FC-70)
-From Civil Defense Administrator Harry Kim dated
June 28, 1976, informing that the State Legislature
appropriated for the study $50,000 which will be
handled by the State Civil Defense to implement. The
County will make all efforts to insure that the State
Civil Defense coordinate and communicate with the
Hawaii County Civil Defense in the implementation of
the study.

RESOLUTIONS
No. 608 SALARY ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
Amends the salary ordinance ,for the Department of
Public Works (Bureau of Sewers and Sanitation) and the
Fire Department.

Approve and recommend adoption.
RECOMMENDATIONS
4„. No. 1 : PURCHASE OF RADAR ALTIMETER
<C TY? Request the administration to look into the cost of
installing a radar altimeter in the County helicopter
and report back to Finance Committee. (Fujii/Lai)

4e. No. 2 NAALEHU AND PAHALA FIRE STATIONS
� rfz_j Recommend the administration, as an interim measure,
utilize the two additional Fire Equipment Operator
positions (Resolution 608) to supplement the already
existing one-man fire stations in Naalehu and Pahala
to increase services for both districts until the
County is able to implement the consultant' s recom-
mendation of a 7-man station as the minimum complement
