RESOLUTION NO. 84 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS YOUTH ENGAGEMENT
INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier
community; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is also committed to building supportive communities that offer
children and adults a range of educational and economic opportunities; and
WHEREAS, HIUW supports various organizations and community partners that offer
programs and services for youth and wishes to expand its youth engagement initiative through
the use of social media and other social networking tools; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with expenses relating to the
development and implementation of its social media plan to reach and engage more young
people and to get the message out about its youth programs and services; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses relating
to its youth engagement initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $4,000

010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $4,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
