RESOLUTION NO. 85 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEALAKEHE HIGH
SCHOOL GRAD FOR PROJECT GRADUATION 2017.
WHEREAS, Project Graduation 2017 is an event that will provide a safe, all-night
celebration for graduating seniors from Kealakehe High School, West Hawai`i Explorations
Academy, and qualifying home-schools; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School Grad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has
coordinated Project Graduation since 2001; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School Grad needs funds to pay for entertainment,
transportation, food, and other expenses associated with its graduation-night celebration on
May 27, 2017; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth
programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free events, such as Project Graduation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kealakehe High School Grad to help pay for expenses
associated with Project Graduation to be held on May 27, 2017.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
