The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Research
and Development Committee which were considered at its meeting of
May 9, 1973:
COMMUNICATIONS
Comm. 33.1: REQUIREMENTS OF SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE (C-33)
From Raymond H. Suefuji, Planning Director,
dated April 12, 1973, informing that they are
currently reviewing this matter with all of the
concerned agencies and will inform the PRD Committee
as soon as an alternative has been developed.

Comm. 194.2: STATUS OF KIOSKS IN KAILUA, KONA (C-194/PRDC-6)
From Haruo Oda, Assistant Corporation Counsel,
dated April 30, 1973, informing that they have
filed suit in Third Circuit Court for an
injunction, and after a hearing on April 19, 1973,
the Court ordered that the booths be closed. A
further hearing on the County's motion for a
permanent injunction will be held on May 11, 1973.

Comm. 264. 2 : OEO DEVELOPMENT. PROGRAMS (Resolution 40)
From Hiram L. Fong, United States Senator, dated
April 25, 1973, acknowledging receipt of Resolution 40
and informing that it is his understanding that all
0.E®O. programs, except Community Action Programs,
are being funded in the 1974 budget at the 1973 level
or higher by the agencies to which these programs
are being transferred or by proposed new agencies. •
Also informs that many community development programs
and economic development programs can receive
assistance under normal Federal-aid programs.

Comm. 272: SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
From Seichi Hirai, Clerk of the Senate, dated
March 21, 1973, transmitting a copy of Senate
Resolution 43 requesting the Department of Land
and Natural Resources in conjunction with each
soil and water conservation district to evaluate
and determine the need for a State law relating
to soil erosion and sediment control.

AL- Comm. 273 : SAND MINING PROJECT OFFSHORE AT KEAUHOU, KONA
From Department of Research and Development dated
April 19, 1973, recommending that the County endorse
the sand mining project at Keauhou, Kona, as they
view the proposed project as one of applied research.
Recommend Council endorse
project.
(Comm. 275 : RENAMING KAWAIHAE-MAHUKONA HIGHWAY TO THE AKONI
PULE HIGHWAY
From George M. Takane, Clerk, House of Representatives,
dated April 18, 1973, transmitting a copy of House
Resolution 353 honoring the former State Representative
Akoni Pule by renaming the Kawaihae-Mahukona Highway
to the Akoni Pule Highway.
