The following are the recommendations of the Planning, Research
and Development Committee which were considered at its meeting of
June 27, 1973 :

/No. 281: PROPOSED LAUNCHING RAMP AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS
AT HONAUNAU, HAWAII - JOB H. C. 6028 (Rec. 1/PRDC-7)
From Melvin E. Lepine, Chief, State Harbors Division,
dated April 23, 1973, submitting for informationand
use a set of plans, Draft Environmental Impact State-
" ment and all relevant correspondence.
281.1: From David S. Nahm, Staff Executive for Congressman
Matsunaga, dated April 27, 1973, acknowledging receipt
of the Council's letter of April 23, 1973 concerning
the proposed construction of a boat ramp at Honaunau
Bay. Informs that Mr. Matsunaga has already contacted
the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation about
this matter and encloses a copy of the reply which
he received.
281.2 : From Patsy T. Mink, U. S. Representative, submitting
a copy of her letter dated May 1, 1973, to the
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation regarding
the proposed boat ramp at Honaunau.
281. 3: From Patsy T. Mink, U. S. Representative, submitting
for information, a letter from Ken Tapman, Compliance
Officer, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, with
the latest correspondence from the Corps of Engineers
concerning the proposed boat launching ramp at Honaunau.
281.4: From Daniel K. Inouye, U. S. Senator, dated April 30,
1973, informing that the subject matter before the
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is pending
the outcome of: 1) receipt of a preliminary report by
the Army Corps of- Engineers evaluating the situation;
and 2) the final determination of this consultation

,L-L. No. 332: HAWAII HOUSING AUTHORITY
LOW RENT ELDERLY HOUSING PROJECT, SOUTH KONA
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated June 13, 1973,
submitting for adoption Resolution 74 to convey
1.120 acres of County land, being a portion of
Parcel 49, Keekee 1, South Kona (TMK: 8-1-02 :49) ,
to the State of Hawaii to be used for the 32-unit,
low rent Elderly Housing Project as proposed by the
Hawaii Housing Authority; and requests authorization
for the Mayor to execute the deed.
Recommend adoption of Resolution 74
and authorize the Mayor to execute
the deed.

KAHEI , NORTH KOHALA (TMK: 5-5-03 :25 & 26)
From Ed C. Watt, Chairman, Planning Commission,
dated June 7, 1973, submitting for adoption a bill
to change the district classification from an
Agricultural (A-20a) to a Single-Family Residential
(RS-15 ) zoned district to allow the creation of a
residential subdivision at Kahei, North Kohala.
Approve and recommend passage of •
Bill 1004 on first reading.

HONAUNAU, SOUTH KONA (TMK: 8-4-07:portions of 9 & 10)
From Ed C. Watt, Chairman, Planning Commission,
dated June 7, 1973, submitting for adoption a bill
to change the district classification from an
agricultural - 5 acre to an agricultural - 1 acre
zoned district at Honaunau, South Kona.
Approve and recommend passage of
Bill 1005 on first reading.

From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated June 15, 1973,
keeping the Council apprised of the progress of
the Hilo Senior Citizens Center project.

�No. 342: LOW RENT HOUSING PROJECTS
From Mayor Shunichi Kimura dated June 15, 1973,
keeping the Council apprised of the progress of
low rent elderly housing projects for Hawaii
County. The 112 units will be located in Keaau, Puna
(30 units) ; South Hilo (50 units ) ; and Kealakekua,
South Kona ( 32 units ) .
