of August 15, 1973, speaking in favor of Bill 1012.
412. 3 : Copy of presentation by Brian De Lima, Youth Advocates,
at Council meeting of August 15, 1973 , speaking in
favor of Bill 1012.
412.4: From Helen S. Baldwin dated August 15, 1973, submitting
comments in favor of Bill 1012.
412.5 : Copy of presentation by Jack C. Davis at Council meeting
of August 15, 1973, speaking in favor of Bill 1012.
412.6 : From Jerry Rothstein, Keaukaha Coast Community Association,
dated August 16, 1973, submitting comments in favor of
Bill 1012 but only as an interim measure as a stepping
stone to the main objective of the community which is
the downzoning of the Keaukaha coast from resort to parks
and open space from Reeds Bay to Lehia Park.

ku._C.-- No. 419: NAMING OF KAWAIHAE-MAHUKONA HIGHWAY (Resolution 88)
From Robert C. Schmitt, Chairman of the Advisory
Committee on Geographic Names , dated August 21, 1973,
submitting background information on the request to
rename the Kawaihae-Mahukona Highway.
Recommend the renaming of the
Kawaihae-Mahukona Highway to the
"Akoni Pule Highway" and request
the Corporation Counsel to
prepare the proper resolution.
. e- No. 420: COMMENTS - DOROTHEA CARVALHO
From Dorothea Carvalho commenting on the following:
Item 4: (a) In favor of plans to turn the proposed
hotel near Liliuokalani Park into a
park extension.
Receive and file. (Action taken
on Resolution 98. )
(b) In favor of proposed height limit to
buildings in Keaukaha (Bill 1012) .
Refer to the Planning Department
and the Planning Commission for
consideration in their review of
Bill 1012.
(c) Concern for the "Doc" Hill home and
surrounding property. Recommends that
it be made a part of the park complex
and the home be used for formal state
or government receptions, weddings , etc. ,
and the rental charged for private
functions be used to defray the cost of
upkeep; and
(d) Is opposed to the plan for two more resorts
between Waiakea Village Inn and Kamehameha
Avenue and having our parks be hotel grounds.

From Council Chairman Yamada dated August 24, 19730
submitting following comments of Noboru Kubojiri :
(1) Regarding the height limit in Keaukahaf County
should consider economic growth rather than buying
lands for park purposes and placing the burden on
the taxpayers.
Refer to the administration for
a reply to Mr. Kubojiri.
(2) Regarding the need for a County waterline when
subdividing lands, each subdividing request should
be considered separately depending on the climate
of the area.
Refer to the Agriculture and
Visitor Industry Committee.
Lc No. 428: STREET NAMES IWASAKI SUBDIVISION
(Res. 116) From Ed C. Watt, Chairman of the Planning Commission,
dated August 240 1973, transmitting a resolution naming
streets within the Iwasaki Subdivision, Waiakea Homesteads,
South Hilo.
Approve and recommend adoption
of Resolution 116.
