Suefuji, Planning Director, dated December 6, 1973, submitting background information on Motion 22 relative to the road alignment. Informs that should the Planning Commission approve the variance request and upon final approval to the subdivision, the County must file an abandonment resolution and a quitclaim of interest to the State of Hawaii for the abandoned segment of the roadway. Thereafter, the adjacent owner, Mr. Stillman, can negotiate with the State of Hawaii for acquisition of the old roadway as permitted under statutory provisions as provided. Receive and file. From Kona organizations dated January 16, 1974, recommending that the Council impose certain restrictions on the developer. Receive and file. lNo. 626 : APPOINTMENT OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR From James Souza, Chairman, Economic Development Committee, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, dated December 27, 1973, asking the Council to work together with the Mayor to fill the vacant position of the Director of the Department of Research & Development or find some other suitable alternative immediately. Also suggests that the Council audit the programs of the department for all to know, understand and appreciate its existence, effectiveness and usefulness .
